Presentation of the “Uzbek Studies Program” at the University of Oxford
On October 14, 2025, the prestigious academic center of the United Kingdom — the University of Oxford — hosted the official presentation of the “Uzbek Studies Program.”
The event was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Gulnoza Ismailova, Executive Director of the “El-yurt umidi” Foundation; Nozliya Normurodova, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at the Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL); as well as Oxford professors, representatives of the UK’s foreign and educational institutions, diplomats, and members of the Uzbek delegation.
This landmark event stands as a logical continuation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s policy of cultural and educational diplomacy, demonstrating Uzbekistan’s growing presence and influence in global academia, science, and culture.
Launched in collaboration with the “El-yurt umidi” Foundation, the Oxford Birsoz Initiative, and TSUULL, the program represents the first-ever comprehensive academic track in Oxford’s history dedicated to the study of the Uzbek language, literature, culture, history, and anthropology.

As the main academic and methodological partner, TSUULL plays an active role in the program’s development. Its scholars have contributed to designing the curriculum, educational content, and methodological framework. Moreover, the program provides TSUULL professors with the opportunity to teach, conduct research, and gain experience with advanced educational technologies at Oxford.
Another key feature of the initiative is the integration of TSUULL’s digital platform “UzAcademy” into Oxford’s educational ecosystem. UzAcademy is more than just a language-learning tool — it is a comprehensive digital education ecosystem encompassing rich content on the Uzbek language, history, literature, art, traditions, and science. This integration marks a new milestone in bringing Uzbekistan’s intellectual innovations into the international academic sphere.

The “Uzbek Studies Program” at Oxford is not merely the introduction of a new academic discipline. It symbolizes a new stage in intercultural dialogue, intellectual cooperation, and educational diplomacy, providing an unprecedented opportunity for Oxford students — and the global scholarly community — to engage deeply with Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
