Partnership Ties Continue to Grow Stronger

On June 25, a partner organizations’ meeting was held within the framework of the 2025 KOICA Volunteers Program, organized by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Representatives from Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Durdona Ermatova and Kamola Abdullayeva, took part in the event.

The meeting focused on ongoing projects in collaboration with KOICA, the activities of Korean volunteers, and future prospects. Discussions also covered institutional needs, partnership agreements, and opportunities to secure funding for upcoming projects.

The cooperation between Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TashDO‘TAU) and KOICA began in 2022 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and has since been developing successfully, growing stronger with each passing year. As part of this partnership, KOICA volunteers are actively studying the Uzbek language and culture at the university. Since January 2024, for instance, nine Korean volunteers have been participating in specially designed courses in Uzbek language (A1, A2 levels) and Uzbek culture. These courses provide valuable opportunities for the volunteers to deepen their understanding of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and adapt more effectively to the local environment.

At the same time, TashDO‘TAU students are taking advantage of international educational opportunities through Korean language programs supported by KOICA.

KOICA funds a wide range of projects in Uzbekistan in the fields of education, healthcare, and vocational training. TashDO‘TAU plays an active role in many of these initiatives, particularly in developing educational programs related to Korean language and culture. During the meeting, university representatives presented information on essential skills and guidelines for submitting project proposals in six key areas: Korean language, education, health, and vocational training.

Shin Myung Seop, Director of KOICA Uzbekistan Office, emphasized the fruitful and steadily strengthening cooperation with TashDO‘TAU over the years. He also expressed KOICA’s readiness to implement new joint initiatives in education and social development in the near future. The meeting also addressed the expansion of Korean language programs, the engagement of KOICA volunteers to create new learning opportunities for students, and efforts to promote Uzbek culture on the international stage.
