Digital Education Technologies Center
The Digital Education Technologies Center is responsible for implementing and managing information and communication technologies in the educational and administrative management processes. The center also plans the prospects for its development through the creation of software and multimedia products, provision of services and activities, and determines the expansion of its production, social, and material-technical base.
Tasks
- Timely informing the university administration about emerging threats to information security within the higher education institution, as well as providing consulting services on information protection;
- Organizing and supervising the management of the “Electronic Education” national network;
- Monitoring the proper operation of existing information systems;
- Organizing regular technical inspections and maintenance of computers;
- Ensuring that Internet services (including e-mail) operate at the required level;
- Identifying and eliminating internal and external threats to information security;
- Protecting stored and transmitted data through communication channels from unauthorized access, modification, falsification, and loss;
- Monitoring the operational condition of operating systems and application software (used for practical tasks);
- Installing and updating system and office software used in structural divisions;
- Installing the necessary educational software on existing computers and providing technical maintenance of computer equipment;
- Ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of network devices (servers, switches) in academic buildings;
- Connecting computers to the local network and monitoring their operation within the network;
- Installing and regularly updating antivirus software on all computers;
- Ensuring the continuous operation of video surveillance systems installed in educational buildings;
- Providing methodological and technical support to structural divisions regarding the technical and software tools of the local network;
- Submitting proposals to the university administration for formalizing contracts with Internet providers regarding network connections;
- Ensuring and monitoring the effective use of the Internet by staff and students;
- Monitoring the continuous operation of the Internet connection and firewalls, and taking necessary measures to prevent various risks;
- Providing university employees with institutional e-mail accounts and monitoring their proper use;
- Continuously improving the official website and ensuring that information about the university’s activities provided by the Information Service is published promptly;
- Ensuring the continuous operation and regular updating of interactive services provided through the website;
- Developing and monitoring the effective use of existing software for automating the educational process;
- Organizing access to global information, legal, and educational resources, and ensuring their regular updates;
- Ensuring the timely input of data into special software developed and implemented by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education;
- Monitoring the effective use of the electronic document management system implemented at the university;
- Creating, maintaining, and updating the database of electronic educational resources, as well as maintaining their registry;
- Providing software and technical support in the creation of electronic versions of new-generation textbooks;
- Forming and continuously updating the database of created electronic textbooks.
Rights and Responsibilities
- The activities of the Center are directly supervised by the Rector of the university;
- The Center reports its performance to the University Academic Council at least once a year;
- The Center regularly informs the relevant departments of the Ministry about its activities and complies with the Ministry’s instructions and guidelines;
- The Center’s activities are coordinated and monitored by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education in accordance with established procedures;
- The Center has the right to request materials and information related to its activities from the university’s structural divisions;
- The Center may submit proposals to the university administration to encourage employees who have contributed significantly to the development of the university, demonstrated talent and knowledge, actively participated in public affairs, achieved success in various fields, or shown dedication and exemplary service;
- In necessary cases, the Center may propose disciplinary measures to the university administration against managers and responsible employees who have violated the rules of using information and communication technologies or the requirements of information security, in accordance with applicable legislation.
