The 9th International Conference "Alisher Navo’i and the 21st Century"

The 9th International Conference "Alisher Navo’i and the 21st Century" took place at Uludağ University in the historic city of Bursa, Türkiye, hosted by Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, this annual conference, initiated by the university, has been a significant platform for scholarly discourse on Alisher Navoi's life and work.

Since its inception, the conference has been held annually in Tashkent, at TSUULL, attracting scholars from around the world to delve into the rich legacy of Alisher Navo'i. Over the years, numerous studies have been published, fostering international collaboration and exchange of ideas among scholars.

Beginning in 2023, the conference expanded its horizons beyond Uzbekistan to accommodate the growing interest and participation of researchers from various countries. The 8th series of the conference was successfully hosted by Azerbaijan, further strengthening ties between Uzbek and Azerbaijani scholars and facilitating international cooperation.

Building on this momentum, the 2024 series of the conference was held at Uludağ University in Bursa, Türkiye. The conference commenced with a grand opening ceremony of Alisher Navo'i Uzbek language and culture center at Uludağ University, marking a significant milestone in cultural diplomacy between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

  

Distinguished guests and scholars from TURKSOY, TSUULL, Bursa Uludağ University, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Türkiye, and representatives of the Turkish government graced the occasion. Renowned academics from Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan enriched the conference with their insights and research contributions.

  

During the plenary session, individuals who have made outstanding contributions to fostering friendship between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as promoting cultural exchange, were recognized and honored. Several foreign scholars were awarded the prestigious " Navo'i" medal by TSUULL, while others received honorary diplomas in recognition of their dedication and efforts.

The conference featured lectures covering a wide range of topics, including Alisher Navoi's literary influence on global civilization, the translation of his works into foreign languages, textual studies, and challenges in teaching Navoi's works within educational systems.

Participants unanimously agreed to strengthen cooperation between Uzbek and Turkish scholars dedicated to Alisher Navo'i studies, underscoring their commitment to advancing Navoi's creative legacy on the global stage.
