“16 Days Against Violence” Campaign Held at Alisher Nava’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature

A series of events titled “16 Days Against Violence” was recently held at the Alisher Nava’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. These activities were organized to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, commemorated annually based on the UN General Assembly’s resolution adopted on December 17, 1999.

As part of the campaign, a range of educational and practical meetings took place, involving students and faculty members. These events aimed to prevent violence, protect the rights and interests of women, and promote a just and equitable society.

One of the key focuses of the campaign was raising awareness about the “UNiTE” initiative, launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2014 to end violence against women and girls. The participants discussed the initiative’s major goals, particularly the need to strengthen global partnerships and actions to eradicate violence.

Throughout the campaign, discussions emphasized the importance of combating violence, with creative contributions from young participants, including essays, video clips, and theatrical performances. These activities were designed to foster a sense of responsibility among the younger generation and encourage active engagement in promoting equality and justice.

The campaign concluded on a high note, with outstanding participants recognized and rewarded with memorable gifts, highlighting the university's commitment to addressing one of society’s most pressing issues.
