Workshop (offline) ‘How to Improve a CV and Motivation Letter Writing Skills’ by Blake Amann, 18 May
A series of short presentations delivered, organized and hosted by TSUULL University and made accessible for all.
Blake Amann is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at TSUULL, where he teaches integrated English and leads Speaking Clubs multiple times throughout the week, helping students develop conversational skills, work on their accents, watch American movies, and learn about university life in America. He is also a Graduate from the University of Southern California (U.S.), where he studied International Relations and Central European Studies. His academic coursework primarily focused on European security following the conclusion of World War II but towards the end of his studies he became interested in the political and economic developments in Central Asia. Blake is particularly interested in the intersection of sports and development and how those two things affect the other.
Understanding how difficult it can be for non-native English speakers to navigate the application process for competitive internships and fellowships, Blake is going to lead a workshop to highlight the most important aspects of the application process when it comes to writing letters of motivation, cover letters, and making a CV/resume. Blake will share his experience applying for the Fulbright Scholarship and how he himself successfully crafted his application, as well as sharing the loads of information that he learned about the process while in university.
Following the workshop, students will gain a better understanding of what application readers are looking for when they read an application, which experiences they need to highlight when applying for a certain position, and learn a number of important phrases and vocabulary that are extremely useful when writing these types of letters.
