Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Forge Stronger Literary and Educational Bonds
Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are witnessing a flourishing of literary and educational connections. On March 4, 2024, Academician, Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, Rector of the Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature was invited by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Academician Isa Habibeyli. Rector attended the 90th anniversary celebration of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature extending warm congratulations on behalf of Uzbek literary scholars.
Furthermore, on March 5, 2024, Academician Sirojiddinov participated in the presentation of Mahmud Kashgari's book 'The Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk' meticulously prepared for publication by the scientific team of Imamaddin Nasimi Institute of Linguistics. This publication, based on a text translated into Azerbaijani by Khalid Saidkhojayev in 1937, remained undiscovered for nearly a century until diligent research by the institute uncovered it. Mr.Sirojiddinov commended the institute's success on this achievement, foreseeing its potential to stimulate new explorations in Turkology globally.
The following day, Mr.Sirojiddinov contributed to an international conference in Ganja, Azerbaijan, commemorating the 115th anniversary of Hamid Arasli, a notable Azerbaijani literary scholar and academician whose contributions greatly enriched Uzbek-Azerbaijani literary relations. The lectures delivered by visiting Uzbek scholars, highlighting Arasli's pivotal role in fostering these relations and his scholarly endeavors in exploring the works of Alisher Navo'i, Nizami Ganjavi, and Fuzuli, captivated the audience's attention.
On March 7, a delegation from Uzbekistan convened with scientists and intellectuals in Ganja, Azerbaijan, at the regional branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration with Ganja University, the Ganja Department of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. As a culmination of these discussions, an agreement was reached to establish Alisher Navo’i Uzbek Language and Culture Center in Ganja.
Throughout March 3-7, Uzbek scientists engaged in a series of visits to various universities and scientific institutions, delivering lectures and further fostering academic exchanges.
