
TSUULL Participated In Amnesty International Human Rights Education Training-Course For Teachers, 31 October – 3 November
The Write For Rights Campaign held its 3rd Human Rights Education (HRE) Training-Course for Teachers in Central Asia from October 31st – November 3rd, 2022 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The seminar brought together 30 school and university teachers-participants from 3 countries of origin in Central Asia: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The participants have formed a very active and collaborative network – sharing information and advice on cases and working together on rights issues. The event was hosted by Amnesty International, a global organization which campaigns for human rights.

The three-day seminar was a rare opportunity to learn from each other about the challenges and realities each faces in formal education in working with students in very different environments. Moreover, participants enabled sharing of good practices and lessons learned, looking at how better communication and coordination between groups and networks could enable more effective case-work, facilitate access to justice and collaborative work on policy reform in the education field.
Then, teachers of all ages and nationalities gathered together in a training-course to learn the basic concepts of human rights, participatory approach in human rights education and interactive methods of teaching, design of the human rights lesson and opportunities for human rights education at schools as well; how to use the non-formal education instruments on the lessons, got to know the gaps in delivering human rights education and discussed how to integrate HRE into core subject standards for schools curriculum. During the seminar trainers and participants pay special attention to HRE Advocacy in Central Asia. The story of success from Kyrgyzstan: Amnesty International works with officials of several affiliates of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education on the holistic integration of HRE into the revised standard for the core subject in Kyrgyzstan secondary schools.
Also the online education platform Amnesty Academy is accessible for all and contains e-courses, educational videos, presentations, quizzes, etc., covering various areas. These include: an introduction to human rights, the Universal Declaration for Human Rights, human rights in relation to modern technologies, the non-formal education methods, the environmental crisis and human rights, the human rights education and sustainable development, etc.
