Second Uzbek-Hungarian Rectors’ Forum Results: TSUULL University Signs MoU Agreements with Four Hungarian Universities, Day 3, 19 May
On 17-19 May 2023, the Second Uzbek-Hungarian Rectors’ Forum was held in Budapest (Hungary). Strengthening and deepening international relations is the aim of the on-going business trip of the experts of Uzbek Delegation consisting of both Universities top-management and regional Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
On 19 May, the third day of the Forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) was signed by Prof. Dr. Nozliya Normurodova, TSUULL Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and by the representatives of three universities of Hungary:
During the ceremony, hosted by Budapest Business School (BBC), representatives of these Universities had an opportunity to discuss with TSUULL University the areas for collaboration and identify the steps for further implementation.
Following the Signing Ceremony, TSUULL University paid special attention to re-signing the Cooperation Agreement with Eötvös Loránd University – during 2020-2022 the Universities have already fruitfully partnered in the framework of Erasmus+ Project ‘The Translation of Alisher Navo’i’s Works Into World Languages and Teaching it in Foreign Countries’: in order to spread the works of the outstanding poet Alisher Navo’i as well as other Central Asian widely-known writers’ works all over the world through the translation of their novels – though useful practices were shared between Universities in the light of Turkic studies, calligraphy, manuscripts and Uzbek literature.
During the negotiations, a proposal was put forward to expand the collaboration and boost the scope of Erasmus+ Projects started before with Eötvös Loránd University, including the academic mobility, support in further development of Master and PhD programmes, etc. As a result of previous positive partnership, the opening of the Uzbek Culture Center at the University was approved by the Hungarian side. The need to accelerate the formation of Uzbek-Hungarian/Hungarian-Uzbek language dictionaries was also noted. Therefore, it will encourage bilingual speakers to start large-scale projects in the field of translation.
The ‘Stipendium Hungaricum’ Scholarship, which provides the opportunity to study in Hungary, is given relatively rarely in the field of Philology, and now it is decided to increase the number of scholarships specifically for specialists in Philology.
It was agreed to develop cooperation with the Universities of Semmelweis and Sopron in the fields of Sociology and Computer Technologies. In addition, publication of articles/papers co-authored by scientists of the two countries and organization of short-term internships in the journals included in the scientific databases of ‘Scopus’ and ‘Web of Science’ were defined.
