Launching the Korean-Uzbek Parallel Corpus Project: A Milestone in Linguistic Collaboration

Expanding Horizons in Language Studies

TSUULL is pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Korean National Institute, aimed at advancing linguistic research and technological innovation. On July 10, 2024, the university hosted a delegation from the Korean National Institute, led by Jung Hewon, Director of the Department of Language Studies, to formalize plans for the "Korean and Foreign Language Parallel Corpus" project.

During discussions facilitated by Prof., Dr.Nozliya Normurodova, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Kang Miyoung, Head of the Language Information and Resources Department at the Korean National Institute, highlighted the initiation of the Korean-Uzbek parallel corpus within the larger software project. The collaboration with TSUULL was emphasized due to the university's extensive expertise and ongoing efforts in developing the national corpus of the Uzbek language.

Dr. Botir Elov, a distinguished Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences at TSUULL, provided insights into the university's significant contributions to corpus development. A Korean expert on the parallel corpus of the Korean language also delivered a specialized lecture, enriching the knowledge exchange during the visit.

The discussions culminated in agreements to undertake various collaborative projects, with particular emphasis on creating the Korean-Uzbek parallel corpus. This ambitious endeavor aims to address technical and software challenges, leveraging Korean expertise while integrating and adapting it to Uzbek linguistic research.

'We are excited about the opportunities that the Korean-Uzbek parallel corpus project brings,' said Prof., Dr.Nozliya Normurodova. 'This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing language studies and fostering international cooperation.'

TSUULL looks forward to the fruitful outcomes of this partnership, which promises to contribute substantially to both academic research and technological innovation in linguistic studies.
