Collaborating with Public Libraries: TSUULL Students Visit Nationwide Children’s Library, 11 November
On 11 November 2023, TSUULL Bachelor Students of the Faculty of Uzbek Language Education with major in Publishing Studies headed by TSUULL Lecturer and Educator Ms.Uldona Abdurahmanova visited the Nationwide Children's Library – a modern and multifunctional public space located in the city center of Tashkent bringing together everything necessary for the development of intellectual and creative abilities of children and youth. Ms.Uldona Abdurahmanova held a lecture for students on ‘Fundamentals of Modern Textual Studies’, ‘‘Children's Literature’ methods of correcting the text based on examples’.
The lecturer emphasized to students that books are the key to the heart and the library is a treasure of ideas. She gave detailed information about the restoration of a library in 2020-2023. Upon entering the library, on the right side there are various books and pictures in separate frames, the great Uzbek ancestors – Alisher Navoi, Babur, Mashrab, Ogahi, Cholpon, Oybek, Hamid Olimjon, Muhammad Yusuf. The orderly placement of the books of our creators attracted the attention of the students.
The library’s staff told students about the availability of books that meet the interest of children and adults and the presence of more than 20,000 publications in the library fund. It was noted that these are children's age-appropriate fiction, encyclopedia-dictionaries and scientific-methodical and bibliographic resources in all fields of science. The ‘I Live in Uzbekistan’ Exhibition started from a few children's books published in the 1920s-1930s in Uzbekistan. Its launch is the first public demonstration of the Library archives focusing on the history of children's literature and book publishing in Central Asia. The exposition includes several books, designed by talented artists such as Alexander Nikolaev (Usto Mumin), Lidia Joltkevich, and Iskandar Ikramov, narrating about life in the republic to little kids.
Here are student reviews:
Mohlaroyim Solijonova, TSUULL Student:
‘We really like such an open traveling class. Seeing the books, we all wanted to create such a library at home. Here we can read all fiction books intended not only for children, but also for adults. It was much more enjoyable to work with the text of children's literature in this place than in the auditorium’
Akila Olimova, 1-st year Bachelor Student:
‘I was in a hurry to read the various books in the library. I have been planning to read books on world literature for a long time. I reached my goal’.
Madina Mukhtarova, TSUULL Student:
‘When I was reading the book I wanted in the library itself, I felt as if I fell into another world. I especially love art books. We are happy that open reading has been launched in our traveling class, that is, it is possible to easily take the book we need from the bookshelf and read it’.
At the end of the two-hour lecture, the educator shared her opinion: ‘In my opinion, a book is an inexhaustible wealth. A person elevates himself only by reading. Correct upbringing is the only way to bring up a healthy generation in all aspects, the destination of happiness. Because in our country, the constant attention paid to raising the spirituality of the young generation, enriching their knowledge and worldview, and realizing their potential and aspirations is the same – the dream of a Perfect Generation. Therefore, it is our duty to take advantage of all the opportunities and learn’.
