TSUULL Student Wins Competition with Artificial Intelligence Project
On September 18, 2026, a graduation ceremony was held as part of the Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion Project, an initiative aimed at developing digital skills in Uzbekistan. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the World Bank. It focuses on equipping young people with modern digital skills, strengthening their knowledge in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, and expanding their opportunities in the digital economy.
Among the participants was Mohinur Xamza qizi Shukurullayeva, a second-year student majoring in Computer Linguistics at Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature (TSUULL).
As part of the project, Mohinur participated in the “AI & Machine Learning Fundamentals” programme, completing an intensive four-month training course focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
For the final stage of the programme, she developed a Capstone Project titled “Student Learning Segmentation”, which earned her the top prize in the competition.
The “Student Learning Segmentation” project is an unsupervised machine learning project designed to analyse university students and their learning activities on online learning platforms. The project uses the Open University Learning Analytics Dataset (OULAD).
The main objective of the project is to group students based not on their final grades or academic outcomes, but on their behavioural patterns throughout the learning process, identifying distinctive patterns of student engagement. The analysis focuses on identifying meaningful student groups based on indicators such as platform activity, learning pace, use of educational materials, and other behavioural characteristics.
The project demonstrates the potential for practical research at the intersection of computer linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and learning analytics. Mohinur’s achievement highlights the importance for students of Computer Linguistics to develop not only expertise in language technologies but also skills in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and modern digital technologies.
During the graduation ceremony, programme participants were presented with certificates featuring QR codes. Mohinur Shukurullayeva was among the participants recognised as competition winners, receiving well-deserved recognition for her project.
